Getting a Hair Cut

This sequence of visuals  can help reduce anxiety for children, and in particular children with special needs when going for a haircut. It follows each of the main steps so parents/careers can show the pictures  ahead of time to the child or it can also be used during the activity so as to help with understanding, calmness and compliance.

This sequence of visuals came about when requested by our own hairdresser who was surprised at how calm our son Tom was when having his hair cut. She saw a lot of other parents struggle with younger children and she had  2 other special needs clients whom she saw struggle with anxiety and uncertainty of what she was doing to them. She was amazed at how settling a few pictures were for these clients and how much more relaxed, calm and compliant they were.
